The Monmouth-Roseville school district offers a Dual Language program for Spanish-speaking students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. The goal of the program is for students to develop bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural competence, all while mastering the same grade-level content and standards as their peers. Research is clear regarding the academic benefits of bilingual education -- increased metalinguistic awareness, cognitive flexibility, critical thinking and creativity. Additionally, the longer students remain in a Dual Language program, the higher their academic achievement through the end of high school.
