Dear High School and Junior High Parents,
This letter is to inform you that beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, Monmouth-Roseville Junior High and Monmouth-Roseville High School will start a random student drug and alcohol testing program. The program affects students involved in extra-curricular activities &/or students who park on school district property.
The District recognizes that participants in extracurricular activities are especially respected and looked up to by the student body. These students are expected to be good examples of conduct including abstaining from the use of drugs and alcohol.
Moreover, students who park on campus who use drugs can be a danger to himself/herself or others, both in and out of the extracurricular activity.
Implementing a random testing procedure will not only promote the health and safety of our students and other extracurricular participants but it is our hope that it will also provide a legitimate reason for our students to say “No!” to drug use. In addition, the program will allow for the District to provide an opportunity for any student taking drugs to receive help in locating programs.
